Wildlife Management

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Wildlife Biologists provide a variety of services to the local landowners, leaseholders, and hunters. One of the primary services available is the monitoring of game populations for the purpose of establishing or revising hunting regulations in the county as a whole. For those interested in "customized" wildlife management on their tract of land, TPW Biologists can also prepare a Wildlife Management Plan that enhances wildlife habitat for many species of wildlife, but can focus on many different species depending on the landowner's goals. Wildlife Biologists and Technicians are also available at certain times of the year to conduct outreach programs to youth as well as traditional constituents such as landowners and hunters. The primary message TPWD Biologists are charged with delivering is that habitat quality is primary factor determining the health and existence of wildlife populations.
